Social Networking / The little known art of selling to friends

How to use social network sites to increase your content views, was originally an article I wrote and posted at fireHOW.com. I wanted to take this subject in a few other directions as well. Several people contacted me saying they had been Facebook and Twitter users for years yet had very little if any following at all. I found a few services offering to help you get followers. I myself have never really used a pay service for this. My personal favorite is TWIENDS. I for one really appreciate this service. I do try to use Twiends in the most ethical way I can, and if you join I pray you do too. I have been with Twiends since the beginning and watched the site go through many changes to get it to the working state it is in now. A lot of the users in the beginning tried to scam the site and made it very hard for the ones of us that used it properly.

Once you have a decent following it is very important that you TWEET everything you do online.  If you have a million follower it still won't serve you in any way if you don't tweet regularly. I try to use Twitter as often as possible. I do believe I get the best returns from the actions of Twitter than any other site I use. Don't give up if you have had these problem, just try out some of the services, some of the services offer huge followings overnight. I chose to go through the process of a slow building use of Twiends free service.

The next obvious step to me was Facebook.  Facebook has a huge community with virtually thousands of mini communities inside it. These communities are great opportunities to spread your links and contact info. I don't suggest spamming them but if what you have is relative to something going on in one of these communities then its a good time to share it. It shouldn't be hard to find a community or group where your content fits because of the vast diversity of the site itself.  Some of my best and most loyal followers come from playing games with them in places like YoVille.com, and Miniclip.com 8 Ball Pool., both of which you sign in through face book and has options to post help requests and achievements.  As with any other social site you shouldn't just constantly pound the site with spam. I try to post as I see others post and slip a few of my own links in when appropriate. Many times the people you play games with will begin to follow your work and start keeping up with what your doing. This in turn increases your content views especially when they share you links as well.

There are a few other details of the process that must be worked out depending on your particular following, such as your best times to exploit your work, and the best place and to which audience.
In a very near future postI will go into building your contacts list and seperating into usable groups for posting and possible mass emailing and or messages.
