Just in from Rome News An open burning ban starts Thursday for 54 Georgia counties including Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga and Polk.
The ban, which has been in effect since 2005, runs through Sept. 30.
Residents and businesses are prohibited from burning yard and landclearing debris. The restriction is in addition to a ban on burning household garbage that exists year-round throughout all of Georgia.
