A fire caused by a chemical reaction occurred Friday night around 7:30pm at US Biofuels Inc. off of Calhoun Rd. The incident occurred when an employee of the biodiesel fuel plant added peroxide to a mixture which induced a chemical reaction. The resulting heat caused the insulation to erupt in flames. The Rome Fire department responded to the call, but the fire had already diminished by their arrival. One employee of the company was transported to Floyd Medical Center with minor chemical burns.
