I wonder how many of us have truly forgotten the very principles America is based on. I woke up this morning and began to find all these school house rocks videos with intention of introducing my 11 year old son to the political side of his education. I choose the School House Rocks videos simply because I personally remember how the videos helped me through many tasks I needed to perform at school. One particular instance was when we were instructed to memorize and quote the Preamble of the Constitution I already knew it due to the repeated viewings of this, School House Rock -The Preamble a Saturday morning short between our normal cartoon features. I must say as a stude3nt of Georgia Public School Systems had it not been for the Schoolhouse Rocks videos I in all likelihood would still be struggling with some of these principles.
I began to ask others around me what their opinion they had if any about the School House Rocks videos. Most all of the people in my own age group had indeed heard of and profited in their studies with memories built from these short lessons. One of the people in my general age group I asked about this is a Special Needs teacher in a close by local county. I only know this particular school system only vaguely, but it is to my understanding these videos are not really part of any educational curriculum. Yet she uses them with great success as have many others I am sure. I do think a lot of us have forgoton the very basic principles that make us the proud nation that we once were and could still be. I am not saying that America isn't a great and strong nation but you must admit we have lost a lot in just my lifetime alone. I do believe that introducing children to these principles as early as possible is a good thing, but we would have to keep the principles the same for all. It seems to me a lot of these long standing guidelines get side tracked a lot of times, for money or some other un fair practice to satisfy a small wealthy group or even a small loud group.
What your opinion of these videos and their effects on our children in today's world?.
